Flexi-Finance Survey: Most pinoys want to give mobile phones for Christmas

· 53.3 percent put mobile phones on top of gift list
· Holiday shopping starts as early as November for most shoppers
· Malls still preferred place to buy Christmas presents

A survey commissioned by Cebu-based financing firm Flexi Finance Asia Inc. —involving over 1,000 Filipinos aged 25 to 55 years old from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao — found that most Filipinos want to give mobile gadgets more than any other gift this holiday season.

Exactly 53.3 percent or more than half of all respondents have put the mobile phones at the top of their Christmas gift list for their loved ones. This is followed by home appliances at 32.6 percent, then tablets, televisions, laptops, and cameras.

Male respondents and those aged 41-45 years old are the top purchasers of mobile phone gadgets as a present for Christmas.

As millions of shoppers begin to flock malls and shopping destinations for the holidays, Flexi Finance is offering loan options and a Christmas raffle promo to help every Filipino shopper make their loved ones’ wish come true.

Richard Lorincz, Flexi Finance Chief Marketing Officer, said the financial services company is running a Christmas raffle promo between November 2 and December 27, 2018 that shoppers can take advantage of this holiday season.

“We are spreading the holiday cheers early this year with our usual loan options and Christmas raffle just in time for the beginning of the Christmas shopping spree of Filipino families which starts by November,” said Lorincz.

The Flexi Finance survey found that a significant number of respondents, across all ages and gender, already start shopping for the holidays by November. This is followed closely by the month of December wherein 38.7 percent of respondents do the shopping. A combined 83.7 percent of all respondents do the holiday shopping during the last two months of the year.

In spite of the proliferation of online shopping options, majority of the survey respondents still do Christmas shopping in malls. As much as 80.7 percent of respondents said they prefer shopping inside malls for the holidays.

Only 9.3 percent of respondents do their holiday shopping online while only 8 percent of the respondents prefer buying gifts at thrift shops or ukay-ukay outlets.

Of holiday shoppers, it is the females that shop Christmas presents for more people when compared to their male counterparts. But when it comes to age, 31-50 years old respondents tend to purchase more gifts vis-à-vis the 25-30 years old and 51-55 years old age group.

Married respondents spend an average of P1,000-5,000 for their partners. While overall 37.8 percent of respondents spend P2,000-5,000 on Christmas gifts. Most of the respondents’ budget for holiday presents or 74.9 percent is intended for family members.

Flexi Finance, founded in Cebu City in 2015, features accessible, convenient, and almost instantaneous financing deals with a maximum approval time of 30 minutes and requiring only valid IDs, Filipino citizenship, and proof of 3-months employment.

The firm has a total of 3,000 partner stores across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. The Flexi Finance Christmas raffle promo is valid for those who get Flexi Finance loans amounting to Php5,000-35,000, with 12 months maturity or longer, for only 20 percent down payment.
