DOT VI joins National Flag Days celebration

The Department of Tourism Region VI is joining the nation in the observance of the 15-day Flag Day Celebration starting on May 28, 2019.
In support for the celebration, DOT VI is displaying the new flag in its regional office at Casa Real De Iloilo (Old Provincial Capitol), General Luna St., Iloilo City. DOT VI staff headed by Regional Director Atty. Helen J. Catalbas conducted the simultaneous flag ceremony in line with the Stop and Salute Campaign. Said campaign posters are also being posted in the DOT VI office.

"We must respect the flag and pay tribute to the heroes who fought for our freedom. As government officials, we must value this freedom through providing quality services to the public”, Director Catalbas said.

DOT-accredited entities are also encouraged by the DOT VI to show their nationalism and patriotism through displaying the new flag.

The May 28 celebration commemorates the day when the Philippine flag was first raised after the victory in the Battle of Alapan in 1898 and continues until June 12, the Independence Day celebration.
