Capiz mentees to present business improvement plans



MSMEs enrolled in the ‘Kapatid’ Mentor ME Program of the DTI Capiz Provincial Office will showcase their learnings after several weeks of mentoring program through the presentation of their respective business improvement plans (BIPs).
Provincial Director Ermelinda P. Pollentes said that there are 20 Mentees who will present their BIPs before a set of panelists for critiquing. Following it will be the graduation rites, indicating that these mentees are now ready to scale up.

The BIP presentation will start at 9am on August 10 at the Kapis Mansion in Roxas City, Capiz.

The graduation of mentees will follow at 2pm.

These graduates were provided by the mentors with a number of helpful tips on the different functional areas of entrepreneurship, such as mind setting and values formation, marketing management, operations management, human resource management, accounting and financial management, taxation, and business law, among others.

DTI Regional Operations Group Asst. Secretary Blesila A. Latayona will be the keynote speaker, and likewise serve as one of the panelists during the BIP. Other panelists include DTI IV-A Regional Director Marilou Quinco-Toledo, and Provincial Directors Diosdado P. Cadena, Jr. and Mercedes B. Young of Iloilo Province and Antique Province, respectively.

With this capacity building program for MSMEs, the DTI hopes to bring in improved productivity for entrepreneurs, increased value-adding activities and innovative ideas, and more employment opportunities in the countryside.

The ‘Kapatid’ Mentor ME Program is one of the government’s strategies to boost economic activity focusing on the MSMEs as they push the economy to greater heights, and making their products globally competitive.
