Cebu Landmasters to begin development of 20-hectare Davao Matina Business Park (CBD) in 2018, inks joint agreement

Mixed-use development is set to become Davao’s true Central Business District (CBD). The current Matina golf club will be converted into a world-class business and lifestyle township.

Cebu Landmasters Inc. (CLI) expands footprint in Mindanao by signing a joint venture agreement with four Davao-based companies to develop Davao Matina Business Park in a 17.1-hectare lot in Matina, Davao City.

CLI chairman and chief executive officer Jose Soberano III led the signing of the agreement on December 11 in Davao City with Plaza De Luisa Development represented by Jason P. Huang, Yuson Newtown Corporation and Yuson Strategic Holdings Inc. represented by Frederick H. Yuson, and Davao Primeland Properties Corporation represented by Frederick H. Yuson.

“The property has been utilized as a golf course since 1960s and this is the best time to transform it into a business park to be able to contribute to the economic and social development of the city,” Fred Yuson highlighted.

CLI is also acquiring a 2.2-hectare lot adjacent to the property, bringing the total project area to almost 20 hectares. The Cebu-based developer is likewise in the process of negotiating acquisition of more adjacent lots to further increase the park’s footprint.

“Cebu Landmasters is bullish to invest in the Davao market and we are happy to serve the growing property requirements of the Davaoenos and of those coming from neighboring provinces,” Soberano explained.

Concept studies for the Davao Matina Business Park show a development of 7 office buildings, 4 retail buildings (indoor mall, cineplex mall, standalone, retain podium, 29 residential condominium buildings, 6 townhome-style building, 1 hotel, 1 convention center, 1 medical building and a civic/community center.

“We pay close attention to the needs of the market and we design and build our developments with the market in mind,” Soberano added.

Phase 1 and site development of the 20-hectare project is expected to start in 2018 and finish by 2021. This includes construction of an office building, a retail building (indoor mall, cineplex mall, standalone, retail podium), a residential condominium and a civic/community center.

Davao Matina Business Park is CLI’s third development in Davao City. The first is MesaTierra Garden Residences, a residential condominium in Emilio Jacinto Extension whose construction is ongoing and expected to be completed in 2020. The second is Project Riverside, a mixed-use development in a 1.9-hectare land along McArthur Highway in Matina and expected to be completed in 2021.

Davao Matina Business Park is 30 minutes’ drive from the Davao International Airport and 2 kilometers away from Project Riverside.
