GMA programs, personalities honored by Anak TV anew


GMA Network was once again recognized by the Anak TV Foundation, with several of its shows and personalities taking home the iconic Anak TV Seal Award. Shown in photo receiving some of the awards were Kapuso personalities Jiggy Manicad (for 24 Oras Weekend and Quick Response Team); Janine Gutierrez (for Day Off); Kara David (for I-Witness); Drew Arellano (for AHA! and Biyahe ni Drew); and Rovilson Fernandez (for Ang Pinaka).

Staying true to its commitment of producing child-friendly programs, leading broadcast company GMA Network was once again recognized by the Anak TV Foundation, with several of its shows and personalities taking home the iconic Anak TV Seal Award last December 8.

MA News pillars Arnold Clavio and Vicky Morales have been elevated to the Makabata Hall of Fame after having been voted as Makabata Stars for seven years now. Joining them is Box Office King and Eat Bulaga host Vic Sotto. They join GMA pillars Mike Enriquez, Mel Tiangco, andJessica Soho who have been earlier elevated to the Hall of Fame.

Bannering this year’s list of Anak TV Seal awardees for the Kapuso Network were GMA-7’s primetime newscasts 24 Oras and 24 Oras Weekend; multi-awarded magazine show Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho; longest-running morning show Unang Hirit; and pioneering public service program Wish Ko Lang. Joining them are top-notch documentary program I-Witness; top-rating infotainment show AHA!; medical television program Pinoy MD; wildlife program Born To Be Wild; and weekly infotainment show iBilib.

Several GMA News TV programs were also awarded this year: Ang Pinaka; Biyahe Ni Drew; Brigada; Day Off; Good News; I Juander; Idol sa Kusina; Investigative Documentaries; News to Go; Pop Talk; Quick Response Team; Reel Time; and Wagas.

Meanwhile, various programs and special coverage of GMA Regional TV (GMA RTV) were also honored by the Anak TV Foundation. Earning Anak TV Seals were GMA RTV’s local newscasts Balitang Amianan (Luzon) and Balitang Bisdak (Visayas). GMA RTV’s coverage of Baguio City’s flower festival, “Kapuso Panagbenga Festival”, and Cebu City’s Sinulog Festival, “Pit Senyor Kapuso”, both earned an Anak TV Seal each.

These programs were affirmed as “child-friendly” by jurors after a thorough screening sessions conducted nationwide.

Recognized as this year’s Male Makabata Stars were Kapuso Primetime King Dingdong Dantes; Pambansang Bae Alden Richards; public affairs host Drew Arellano; and new I-Witness host Atom Araullo. Included in the list of Female Makabata Stars, on the other hand, were Kapuso Primetime Queen Marian Rivera-Dantes; Phenomenal Star Maine Mendoza; multi-awarded broadcast journalist Kara David; and veteran TV and movie actress Ms. Gloria Romero.

These personalities were chosen by the national jury as the “most credible, wholesome, and worth emulating by the youth”.

Various Kapuso news and public affairs and entertainment programs were also selected as Household Favorite TV Programs including 24 Oras; Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho; the country’s longest noontime show Eat Bulaga; and hit family sitcom Pepito Manaloto.
