Before you book, look!
The Department of Tourism Region VI encourages everyone to deal only with the DOT-accredited entities.
This is after the DOT received various reports on the proliferation of non-accredited entities advertising services in different social media platforms for airline ticketing, travel and tour arrangement, hotel booking and training offerings for travel business management. There can be no assurance on the reliability of their products and services.
DOT-accredited entities include tourism frontliners such as tour guide, tourism trainer and primary tourism enterprises such as accommodations, travel and tour services, health and wellness services and tourism-related enterprises.
“DOT VI continuously conducts accreditation campaign to raise awareness on the advantage of being a DOT-accredited entity. We encourage the public to transact business only with DOT-accredited service providers for quality assurance. DOT VI has no jurisdiction on the complaints against non-accredited entities. In such case, our only remedy is refer the complaint to the Local Government Unit concerned for their action”, DOT VI Director Atty. Helen J. Catalbas stressed.
Meanwhile, DOT VI also encourages the public to report DOT-accredited entities that do not follow the DOT standard. The formal complaint should contain the name of the entity subject of the complaint, complete address, details of the complaint and the complete name, address and contact number of the complainant. Once the complaint is received, the DOT Accreditation Division will investigate and prepare report/action.
DOT VI reiterated that DOT-accredited entities have the DOT Quality Seal with corresponding Accreditation Number and period of validity. The complete list of DOT-accredited entities can be found in the Department’s website at www.tourism.gov.ph.
