DOT VI conducts farm-tour with CWDs
The Department of Tourism Region VI in coordination with SPED-Integrated School for Exceptional Children is set to treat a class of children with special needs for a farm-tour on July 21, 2017 in relation to the celebration of the 39th National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation (NDPR) Week.
DOT Region VI Director Atty. Helen J. Catalbas said the agency will introduce these children to the latest tourism product of Western Visayas- farm tourism, to immerse them to outdoor activities. She said this tour aims to provide an environment for support and enhancing children’s play and development.
“Tourism is for everyone and that includes persons and children with disabilities. DOT Region VI is certain this small act of kindness will go a long way not only for these children but also for the tourism industry. This will encourage our tourism establishments to make their facilities and amenities more PWD/CWD friendly”, Director Catalbas accentuated.
Apart from the tour, the agency already conducted an Orientation on Tourism Awareness and Distribution of Promotional/Instructional Material for Transport Operators/Drivers. DOT Region VI will also give free Experience Western Visayas First T-shirts and mugs for PWDs and plans to host a Seminar on How to Handle PWD for Tourism Frontliners.
