DOT VI wants tourism frontliners to provide quality service

The Department of Tourism Region VI in partnership with the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines – Kalibo International Airport conducted a Customer Service and Work Values Seminar for drivers, operators and transport personnel on July 18-19, 2017.

The said seminar aims to equip tourism frontliners, especially the drivers and transport operators, with skills in providing proper customer service and become reliable source of tourism information since the bulk of tourists in Western Visayas are visiting the province of Aklan.

DOT Region VI Director Atty. Helen J. Catalbas said the agency has a continuing training program for tourism frontliners to uplift the standard of service offered to the tourists and match the growing demands of the tourism industry.

“Aklan has two airports, one of which is international, thus, it is only reasonable to raise the standard of service of the frontliners in the area. Tourism is a fast-growing industry in Region VI. It is the top three economic engines of Western Visayas. Our goal is to give our visitors an experience they will never forget so they will keep coming back in our place and recommend it to their friends and relatives”, Director Catalbas explained.

DOT Region VI has trained a total of 3,275 tourism frontliners in 2016 and 1,453 tourism personnel on the first half of 2017, including hotel personnel, boatmen, tour operators, tour guides, transport operators, vendors, concessionaires, tourism officers and site guides, among others.
