Globe Telecom bagged the Gold Stevie Award for Employer of the Year in the field of telecommunications at the third annual Stevie Awards for Great Employers. The international award-giving body acknowledged the company’s efforts in developing innovative programs that help its about 8,000 employees expand and forge their careers.

“We are truly honored to be recognized as one of the world’s best employers at the prestigious Stevie Awards. As leader of Filipino digital lifestyle, Globe is in a position to improve the lives of Filipino people and uplift the nation. To do that, we should first uplift our own people by ensuring they find purpose and meaning in the work they do. We do this by helping our Ka-Globe to reach their full potential and develop innovative programs centered on talent development, holistic growth, and empowerment,” said Renato Jiao, Chief Human Resource Officer at Globe.

The Stevie Awards for Great Employers recognizes the world’s best employers and human resources professionals, teams, achievements and human resource-related products and suppliers who help to create and drive great places to work.

Globe Senior Vice-President for Corporate Communications Yoly Crisanto received the prestigious award on behalf of Jiao and Globe during the gala event in New York, USA.

Holistic, multidimensional

Judges at the prestigious Stevie Awards gave Globe high marks due to the company’s “holistic and multidimensional” approach to employees’ growth. “Well done for many initiatives like the Globe University, everyday leadership programs, and volunteer activities. It was particularly nice to see the results with figures. Obviously a strong leadership with great human respect."

Globe provides employees opportunities for continuous learning with over 100 skills and leadership training courses through its program Globe University. Over 2,900 people have benefited and almost 1000 leaders have emerged from these courses, which are taught by our expert partners in the field using different methodologies.

The company also holds an organization-wide town hall event called Ka-Globe Jam every quarter or semester. This is where its senior leaders, led by Globe President and CEO Ernest Cu, summarize business results, achievements, and milestones of the company.

Globe also allows employees to strike a balance between work and life in its headquarters in Taguig City through the various in-house facilities: a gym, bank, salon, pharmacy, and carwash, among others. Globe had also created the My Choice Flexible Benefits Program, giving employees the opportunity to customize their benefits to suit not only their needs but their dependents as well.

On top of their leave credits, Globe decided to give its employees a volunteer time-off per year devoted to corporate social responsibility work. Volunteerism at Globe in 2017 reached an all-time high of 52.8% of total employee base, with over 3,000 employees contributing over 60,000 man-hours. These initiatives are centered on its belief on continuing to spin the Circle of Happiness - from employees to customers to shareholders.
