GMA News Pillars Jessica Soho, Mike Enriquez hailed as best news anchors anew at the 2nd Animo Media Choice Awards
GMA News Pillars Jessica Soho and Mike Enriquez were once again lauded as “Best TV Female News Anchor” and “Best TV Male News Anchor”, respectively, at the second Animo Media Choice Awards by the De La Salle University Dasmariñas Alumni Association, Inc. (DLSUDAAI). The awarding ceremony was held last July 20 at the Ugnayang La Salle, La Salle Dasmarinas, Cavite.
Soho, who holds the distinction of being the country’s most awarded broadcast journalist, anchors GMA News TV’s flagship newscast State of the Nation with Jessica Soho. She also hosts GMA-7’s top-rating news magazine show Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho (KMJS). A two-time recipient of the prestigious George Foster Peabody Award, Soho is also the first Filipino news anchor to become a finalist at the prestigious New York Festivals Television and Film Awards in 2018.
Enriquez, on the other hand, co-anchors GMA-7’s flagship newscast 24 Oras. He also hosts the investigative public affairs programImbestigador and GMA News TV’s Dobol B Sa News TV.
The only Asian and the only Filipino so far to win the Best Newscaster Award in the Asian Television Awards, Enriquez was also named as the“Best AM Male News Anchor” at the Animo Media Choice Awards for his work in Super Radyo DZBB 594 khz where he hosts Saksi sa Dobol B and Super Balita sa Umaga Nationwide. He is an Anak TV Makabata Hall of Famer, having been voted as Makabata Star for seven years.
The two Kapuso pillars both expressed their gratitude to the people behind the Animo Media Choice Awards.
“Maraming salamat po sa alumni ng De La Salle University Dasmariñas sa pagboto niyo po sa akin bilang Best TV Female News Anchor sa Animo Media Choice Awards 2019. Maraming salamat po sa pagpapahalaga na ibinibigay ninyo sa amin araw-araw o gabi-gabing pagbibigay sa inyo ng serbisyong totoo lalo na tuwing may mga kalamidad at may mga pagkakataon na kailangang-kailangang pong ihatid natin kung ano ang totoo, hindi ho ‘yung fake news, sa ating mga manonood. Maraming salamat po sa inyong suporta sa SONA o State of the Nation. Maraming salamat, mga Kapuso!” Soho said in a video message sent to DLSUDAAI.
Enriquez likewise thanked DLSUDAAI for their trust and confidence on him and GMA Network. “Thank you very much, alumni of De La Salle University Dasmarinas lalo na ngayon, your grand alumni homecoming. Thank you for supporting and for trusting the programs of the Kapuso Network, GMA. Maraming salamat po! Animo La Salle!” he said.
Just recently, Enriquez also received the Gawad Lasallianeta Zeal for Lasallian Excellence as Media Communicator at the 2nd Gawad Lasallianeta of De La Salle Araneta University.
This is the second year that Soho and Enriquez received the prestigious Animo award. A total of 2,050 alumni of the De La Salle University-Dasmarinas participated in the manual and online voting held from March 18 to May 31, 2019. ‘Animo’ is chosen as the name of the accolade as the term embodies vigor that every Lasallian student and graduate share.
